Primeira semana em Brasil

Oi familia e todo!

Thanks Braxton for writing for Mom.  I like the emails you send. :) It´s very strange to write in English.  This week has been amazing.  I love Brazil more than words can say.  It´s so green!  Everyone I´ve talked to here is extremely nice.

I´m not sure where to begin; so many changes since last week!  Thanks for all your emails.  I love hearing from you every week.  Because of limited time, I´ll write one big email. (also here I can´t attach pictures, but when I arrive in Teresina, I´ll send you a bunch!)

The plane ride here went well - I am amazed at how kind and humble the Brazilian people are.  I love them so much already.  I sat with another Elder and for almost 8 hours to Brazil, we shared favorite scriptures and talked about the Gospel with the lady sitting by us.  Everyone I have met loves and is not afraid to talk openly about Jesus Christ.

It is awesome to be in the CTM de novo.  It brings back many good memories.  In an environment where everyone is devoted to the single purpose to serve God, it is easy to feel close to Him.

Bishop Causse spoke to us individually yesterday about finding purpose in our mission.  I am serving simply because I love Jesus Christ and my brothers and sisters here in Brazil.
Elder Richard G. Scott also spoke to us of the power of personal prayer.  How the world would change if every night the whole world prayed! "With all energy of heart" for "the welfare of their souls" and for those around them.  I know prayer is real.  I´ve felt the power that comes from talking with God.  I know He lives.  He cares about us individually; every one of billions of us!  He knows us by name and wants to talk with us.

To those in Las Vegas (also Cali & Utah), especially the Ishaqs, Keith, Leteles, Irma Tippetts, hope all is well!  (Rahiil and Shahil, how´s scripture journal drawing going?)  Elder Fort is awesome.  I´m happy you have the chance to get to know him.  Of course Elder Tongi´s awesome too but you already know that.

Love you all!  Have a good week. 2 Corinthians 6:4-10

Com sinceridade,

Brandyn at the Brazil MTC

Brandyn is finally in Brazil!!!

Ola familia!

Estou aqui!  Thanks for the prayers for a safe flight & trip down here.  It is amazing here. The people here are very nice and helpful.  I'm sitting here with 24 other elders and sisters that were waiting for visas as well and finally arrived. Most have been out as long as I or longer!

All is well - tudo bem.

Amo voces!

Elder Brandyn Young is in Brazil!

Dear Parents,
Sister Swensen and I are very happy to let you know that your missionary has arrived safely at the Brazil Missionary Training Center.  What a great joy and privilege it is to greet each missionary as they begin their missionary experiences with us. We will surely take good care of your missionary.
The missionaries now have companions and are settled into their rooms.  They are assigned to a district with capable and caring instructors for language and lesson study.  Their branch presidents and wives, will meet them this Sunday.  These wonderful couples are richly blessed as they work with, motivate, and interview the missionaries assigned to their branch.
The MTC has a full-time live-in physician to care for their health needs.  He is assisted by his able wife who is a nurse. We are also happy to report that the cafeteria food is plentiful, healthy and very good.
Your missionary will be able to e-mail home on Preparation Day after a morning at the Temple.  This will be either Wednesday or Friday, depending on individual assignments.
Your missionary is about to make an eternal difference in the lives of many others. President Lorenzo Snow said: “There is no mortal man that is as interested in the success of an elder when he is preaching the Gospel as is the Lord who sent him to preach to the people who are the Lord's children".  We love these missionaries as if they were our own.  We will watch over them carefully to ensure they are ready for a wonderful missionary experience after the rewarding time they will have in the MTC.
We thank you for preparing such a wonderful representative of the Lord.

Elder Young left this morning to go to the San Paolo Brazil mission home for a two week intense training then he will go to Teresina where he will serve the remainder of his mission!

The Bishop and his wife of the current ward I have been serving in

Sister Evans!  She will be baptized on the 27th.

2 Nephi 33:6-7,10,12

About to leave for the mission office & have a little packing to finish up - if I'm allowed I'll call tomorrow when I arrive.  If not, know that I am safe!  Love you all!  I'll send lots of pictures next time I'm able to email.

I've loved serving here in Las Vegas and will miss this place more than I ever imagined.  I'm happy though to serve now in Brazil.  Greater joy I've felt in the mission field than ever before in my life.  This week especially I've witnessed the reality of a Living Savior who loves us.  Too many miracles to count!

Brandyn leaves for Teresina Brazil this Tuesday to serve for one more year!!!

Familia,

It's been fun to hear about all that's been happening the past couple weeks in Arkansas!  A lot of amazing things have happened here as well.  I am happy to hear you are doing well in teachers quorum, Ben, and in football.  That's awesome too that Austin & Brooks played on Saturday!

I think Dad is right that I'm going to be "homesick" for Las Vegas. :)  I love this place.  The people here I'll miss the most.  We've made lots of good memories - miracles have happened here I will never forget.
Yesterday I met Alex Boye!  He came and did an impromptu devotional.  President Snow is friends with him, and knew he'd be coming in town.  We brought Corey Barlow a minister getting baptized soon who loves Alex Boye.  It was so neat for Corey to meet Alex.  What a miracle.

Time's running out - there's another miracle story I'll tell you if I get a chance to email later today.  If not, then remind me next week!

Love you!

Elder Young with Elder Soloi and Jose, a recent convert we taught in Freedom Park.  He is now serving a mini mission and planning on leaving on a full time mission soon.

Elder Puga got to go to his district meeting on exchanges with the assistants.  He is such a good missionary. I learned a lot from him.

1 Thessalonians 3:9-13

BRYCE!  Congrats!!!  That's so crazy.

"And now it came to pass when [Elder Young] received this epistle he was exceedingly astonished
." -3 Nephi 3:11

It's good to hear from you.  So many amazing things happening all at once.  Congrats Blake on the Eagle!  That's exciting.

Terra, I'm glad you stopped in at Mountain Shadows ward sacrament meeting.  It feels like that was last week!  It was fun to hear your testimony & meet you for the first time.

I hope you've all have a good labor's day weekend.  I remember it was always nice after starting school to have one last Monday of summer break.  Keep on being awesome & getting good grades.  Remembering too an A in spirituality is most important.  If I did high school again the only thing I'd change would be getting to seminary right on time every day.

This week was a lot of fun.  Every day is new serving with Elder Tongi.  I feel like I'm serving with and Elder Blake ~ he's very funny & thinks out of the box.

Zone conference was this week!  President Snow is among the most spiritual people I've ever met.  He radiates charity.

"47 But charity‍ is the pure love‍ of Christ, and it endureth foreverand whoso is found possessed of it at the last day,it shall be well with him.
48 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray‍ unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with thislove, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers‍ of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sonsof God; that when he shall appear we shall be‍ like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope;that we may be purified‍ even as he is pure. Amen."
Thanks for all the exciting news!  All is well in Vegas.  I'll keep you updated on travel info for Brazil.

Have a good week!
