Some pictures I found from my Vegas Mission

Christmas present from Elder Christy

Gustavo, a priest (now Elder) that was baptized a year ago and does visits a lot with us got his call yesterday!  To Londrina Brazil. The same mission as my other companion Elder Jacobs.

Elder Jesus spained his ankle so we ice it each night an drink shakes!

Ping Pong in the park!

Gleicy Neildo!  an awesome member in the ward who goes on splits with us a lot!

Junco, Sobral

The rest of the family was baptized!  I am sitting by Joao(20 years old) who was baptized as well 3 months ago .  He is going to serve a mission after being a member one year.  I have never seen such a recent convert with such a strong testimony of the atonement.

Feliz aniversario Bryce

Feliz aniversário Bryce!

Hope you had a happy 22.  I think the last time I saw you, you had just turned 19.  Now you´re married and all grown up & stuff. :)  It made me happy that everyone still kept the tradition of going around the table saying one thing they love about the birthday [man].  Thank you Blake for saying mine for me haha. Enjoy the holiday today & make lots of snow cones.

Today is transfer day so we´re waiting for the call!  We have a new rule that we have a maximum of 2 hours notice before our bus leaves.  Both of our bags our packed but we both are thinking and hoping that we´ll stay another 6 weeks.  It has been a lot of fun working with the youth in this ward.  We try to do a family night every other night and invite our ward missionaries.  Last Friday was the first mutual activity in a couple years in the ward.  We are trying to get mutual started again - next Friday we´ll be doing volleyball.  Activities are the best way to get everyone involved and excited to invite others to learn about the Gospel.  Parabens tambem to Dad for the willing and brief!

This week´s spiritual thought.  Watching part of this reminded me of the song that I like to play for mom by Steven Curtis Chapman - One Little Heartbeat at a Time.  The good you do reaches further than you know.

Love you all!

Happy New Year!!

Happy new year!!
Eu gostei muito os fotos do casamento de Bryce.  Hope Dad had a good birthday.  They even had fireworks here to celebrate.  I enjoyed too Blake´s poem for Terra.
This week was good.  It´s a lot of fun being companions with Elder de Jesus.  He makes protein shakes for everyone every night.  Then we read a chapter in the Book of Mormon. :) All I lack is a rocking chair.
The past couple weeks have been full of activities for the holidays.  They don´t have the tradition of caroling in Brazil, but we decided to go caroling anyway and shared the Christmas story Luke 2.  I´ve been blessed with a lot of good singers as companions, which makes lessons a lot of fun.  We usually start and end with a hymn.
This week we learned the power of a simple invitation.  On the way to church yesterday we said as we always do to our neighbor, "Vamos pra Igreja esta Domingo irmão?" (Are you coming to church with us this Sunday?) And he went!  He loved it & wants to be baptized in two weeks.
I still remember Mom´s example inviting our neighbors to church on the way Sunday morning.  Often others have a strong desire to learn and just need an invitation.  "When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." - Mosias 2:17
This Friday we´ll be doing an activity with the youth in our ward and will share this video:

about the new year, and the opportunities we have to serve.
Love you all!

Happy New Year and Happy Birthday Dad!

Querido familia,

It was fun seeing you guys this week on Skype!  I especially liked the song.  It was awesome to see Christy, Apryl, Broden, Cassidy & relatives too.  Thanks for sending the photos - that´s awesome that the Vincents´grandpa did the sealing!  I´m glad too you got to visit Uncle Jeff & Aunt Andrea.  I still remember going to Inn n Out Burger with Uncle Jeff & Christy the night before my mission began.  Uncle Jeff told me some neat stories too from his mission on the way to the MTC.

This week for Christmas we did another choir show de Natal in a city called Tiangua.  Tiangua (Chee-on-gwa) is on top of a mountain, so it was a little colder which felt super nice.  Yesterday also was Elder de Jesus´(my companion´s) birthday.  We made an ice cream cake, and decorated the whole house after he fell asleep at night so that in the morning he´d have a surprize birthday party.  I´ll send pictures when I get access again to a USB/port that can download them.

There have been some very neat experiences the past couple weeks in teaching - especially with Nasrin.  She is from Iran - knows English and is learning Português. It´s been a unique experience to teach Portuguese the Gospel at the same time.  Although she can´t yet understand when she reads in Portuguese, she says she feels at peace every day when reading O Livro e Mormon.

I know that studying the scriptures both personally and as a family every day is the key to pure joy and peace in our lives.  Imagine going a whole day with headphones on, not listening nor talking with anyone.  Or imagine going a day without food and water.  It is the smae with our spirit - it needs to communicate and needs good nourishment.  Only prayer, the scriptures, and sacrament can provide the healrth our spirit needs to be full and happy. & then when we share that goodness we receive ten fold.  (how´s the willing & brief challenge going?:)

I love you all a lot.  More than words can say.  Have a happy new year & HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!
